Our day will begin at the Kisumu museum. Here, exhibitions focus on the natural and cultural history of Western Kenya and the lake regions respectively. It features a collection of local flora and fauna, as well as a traditional Luo homestead. There is also a snake park in the museum, traditional Luo homestead where you can learn and experience more about the Luo traditions.
From museum, we will drive to Kisumu Impala Park. This is a holding area for wildlife, which require special protection in this densely populated area. Impala Park Kisumu focuses on a small herd of impalas, while the animal orphanage contains a collection of caged Lions, leopard, baboon, Spotted Hyena, jackal, buffalo, cheetah, bushbuck, and Syke’s monkey. The park also provides important open grazing for the local hippo population while the threatened Sitatunga antelope is believed to exist in the nearby swamps. Being a shady and peaceful place, the birdlife here is amazing and for those who enjoy some quality and quite moments, Impala Park makes an ideal place.
From the park we will drive for lunch at Dunga Beach followed by a boat ride to get a first-hand experience of the second largest fresh water lake in the world – Lake Victoria. We will later proceed to the nearby community-owned Dunga Ecotourism boardwalk in the swamp where you can experience more birdlife especially the biome restricted and the papyrus endemics of Lake Victoria. We will later visit the fishing village where you will encounter the local anglers and fishmongers. You will get to interact with the anglers to learn the secrets of their trade, which is their lifeline for sustainability. We will drive back to the city and transfer you to your residence.

Depart for an early sunrise boat cruise on the world's second largest fresh water body, Lake Victoria. We'll dock at the beach and have a close-up encounter with the anglers and fishmongers.
After the lake, we'll leave the city for the equator point in Maseno. This is a lush suburb where the altitude is high and cool enough copared to Kisumu city.
We'll explore Kisumu city on foot as we explore some of its well known attractions and builldings. We'll also have some good moments as we take photos.
From the city we'll drive to the lakeshore for some Luo delicacies as we enjoy the cool lake breeze. We'll then visit the nearby Dunga Ecotourism Community boardwalk for a firsthand experience with the local community that is at the forefront of conserving the unique Dunga wetlands and the swamp.
We'll leave the lakeside and proceed to Kisumu Museum where we'll learn the best about the Luo and other tribes around the Lake Victoria region.
The market, locally known as Chiro Mbero is integral part of the lakeside's rich history. This will be the place to learn about sustainabilty and the connection between the farmer, the vendor and the consumer and the Jubilee market has really come a long way to prove this involvement.
Our daytrip will come to an end after visiting the market upon which we'll transfer you to the hotel of residence.
This activity will begin in Kisumu, Kenya's only lakeside city. For the sake of your enjoyment and getting pure value for your money, this activity begins at 0600 hours.
The activity will end in the evening not later than 1800 hours in Kisumu city. On request, we will be happy to tranfer you back to your hotel of residence within a radius of 15 km in Kisumu city.
You can bring one piece of carry-on bag onto the vehicle with you. This must be small enough to fit either under your seat or on your lap.
Airport transfers are not included in the price of our daytrtrip activities, however you can book for an arrival or departure transfer in advance with our office. In this case representative will be at the airport to greet or see you off. To arrange this please contact our customer service team once you have a confirmed booking.

To answer your question, the number of guests on your daytrip will be only you and your loved ones. We handle every booking privately and at Oluokos, we strictly adhere to the no mixing group’s policy. Each of our safari vehicles has a maximum capacity for six guests. The beauty of taking our privately guided daytrip is that you'll get to enjoy the best that Africa has to offer to you and your group privately.
We can accommodate vegetarian guests and we will be happy to assist with diabetic, gluten-free and other medically recommended diets. Please advise us at the time of booking your daytrip with us. Unfortunately, we’re unable to supply meals in accordance with strict religious requirements. For example, we can’t provide salt-free, Halal, requests for specific dietary supplements such as soya milk, and high protein or low-carb meals.
Oluokos itineraries involve a good blend of driving, walking and enjoying sites from the comfort of your safari vehicle. The activity level and amount of walking can vary, so it is important that you bring adequate footwear to ensure your comfort and safety. Our Experience Designers will advise you appropriately before your daytrip begins.
